Trey came to Dogs at Camp Ottawa at the end of November from a situation of neglect at a dog sledding operation in Quebec. He was dirty, anxious and really unsure of what was going on.
As the Owner of Dogs at Camp Ottawa, I spend a lot of time with the dogs in our care, and as I spent more time with Trey, I got to know him very well over the last few months. I began to realize that if he ever left my care I would really really miss him. I miss all the foster dogs once they get adopted, but Trey was different. He and I developed a special relationship of trust and love and I wanted to give him the home he deserves, so I made it official and adopted him!
Having lived outside his entire life, it will take quite a while before he is comfortable and relaxed in a home. Camp life is perfect for him because he gets to spend his days with other dogs and with our staff, and I can slowly introduce him into my house at a pace that doesn’t cause him too much anxiety.
For Trey, this is the best situation and I’m so happy that he is now part of my family.
