We adopted a little rescue pup, Oscar, in the late winter of 2010. He had been in a puppy mill and when he was first adopted out, he was completely unsocialized and therefore mistreated. By the time we adopted Oscar, he had been in the very tender hands of a woman who fostered rescue dogs and she had done a very good job of offering him some socialization.
We knew we would be going on a vacation in the summer where we couldn't take Oscar, so I started looking for boarding situations. I immediately found 'Dogs at Camp' on the internet and loved the concept. I figured it would benefit Oscar to be able to 'hang' with other dogs to help him become more comfortable with all the dogs he sees walking with their families in our neighbourhood.
When I met Cheryl I knew I had come to the RIGHT place!!
She (& all the staff) are very welcoming and give you a strong feeling of competence and caring.
Oscar started going to day camps first (which we will continue because he loves them sooooooo much) to get him used to the place before leaving him for the 11 days in the summer.
We just got back from our vacation and have Oscar back at home. He had a fantastic time! He remembered us and has had a big smile on his face since we picked him up. He ate well, slept well and played very, very well...and now is catching up on some rest.
The feedback and update I got from Cheryl while we were away was very comforting...we knew Oscar was doing terrific.
Thanks Cheryl and staff for being there!
See you again very soon!

We just wanted to share what a great experience Stella seems to have had over the weekend - she has barely opened her eyes, looks a bit sad to be away from her new friends, and is in obvious camp withdrawal!!! She will definitely see you again :-)

Hi,
Kepler here, let me tell you about my stay with Cheryl.
My life in Ottawa is good, pretty fun sometimes, and I live with nice people that I really like to be with.
When they let me go to camp it is the best, I get to sleep on straw, with other dogs and we play and have fun. Cheryl understands me and I like her more than any other stranger I've ever stayed with. I'm really happy now that I don't have to go to prison when my owners go away. I'm not frustrated when I go home and everyone in the house knows when I've been with Cheryl because I'm so calm and full of smiles.

I like to climb on things and give people kisses, and Cheryl let me be "me". When we drive up in the drive way I get so excited to see her I want to wiggle all around her legs and she lets me give her a kiss on the cheek. If all people understood us puppies like she does it would be a wonderful world.

Dogs at Camp is the best!

Sincerely,

Kepler

I could not figure out where to post this and although it does not have anything to do with Kepler and his landscaping techniques, I really wanted you to know this.....

Thank-you Dogs At Camp People for making Axie's stay so wonderful. He'd tell you himself but he's still catching up on sleep from all the activity he received. I was planning on bringing him back in August but now feel that will NOT be SOON ENOUGH. Trying to figure out a timing in July too. Once a Month for a 3 day stay seems to be the ticket.

And again. Thank-you so VERY MUCH for looking after "The Axe-Man".

I lost my dog of 14 years to cancer recently and it absolutely devistated me. I could not believe how much love and enrichment she gave to my life. I had to honor her and get that happiness back into my life. After research of shelters and rescues I came across Jackie (now Kylee). I went up to the Dogs at Camp location in Uxbridge where she was being fostered and there she was. Love at first sight for both of us! The staff and facilities at Dogs at Camp are amazing such a great thing that they are doing there. How can a dog not love it there. Huge thanks to the staff and Glen at Dogs at Camp for taking such great care of the "campers". Kylee will be back for a vacation for sure.
